The Okita Way
Each of the following skill sets are offered individually as effective modes of healing. They are also offered all together as a fluid and integrated approach to healing, awakening and well-being. This utterly unique and seamless integration of precise forms of bodywork with inspired energy work is The Okita Way. Below you will find a guide to some of the systems of healing that are available here:
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. It was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger after years of clinical testing and research at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics.
What conditions does CranioSacral Therapy address?
A healthier Craniosacral System means a healthier brain, spinal cord and nervous system, which means greater health for the whole body.
The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord, which has a profound influence over the body's ability to function properly. And, the central nervous system is heavily influenced by the Craniosacral System -- the membranes and fluid that surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord.
A CST practitioner uses the highly attuned sensitivity of his/her hands to evaluate the Craniosacral System. If any restrictions and distortions are detected they are released and corrected through gentle techniques that work synergistically with the natural rhythm of the Craniosacral System.
One of the myriad techniques employed in Craniosacral Therapy is to bring the Craniosacral Rhythm to a stillpoint. A craniosacral stillpoint is the body's version of coming into stillness, similar to the many benefits of bringing the mind into stillness. This simple technique can reset many of the body's systems, such as the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is one of the most effective means of treating musculoskeletal pain, increasing range of motion, treating sports and over-use injuries and alleviating joint dysfunction.
A Trigger Point is a sensitive palpable nodule in the taut bands of the muscles and fascia. Pressing on a trigger point causes local tenderness as well as “referred pain” which means it elicits pain distant from the trigger point being pressed.
Treating Trigger Points restores healthy functioning of muscles and fascia, which alleviates pain, tension and joint problems. Fascia is the sheathing or matrix that connects structures throughout the entire body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints and internal organs, so Trigger Point Therapy can have far-reaching results.
Mark integrates Energy Work into the treatment of Trigger Points which further enhances the effectiveness of the therapy. Using energy, rather than mere physical force, to treat a Trigger Point allows the body to relax rather than tense-up, resulting in deeper and longer-lasting therapeutic effects.
Trigger Point Therapy is effective in treating:

Visceral Manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that aids the body to release restrictions and compensations that cause pain and dysfunction. It was developed by world-renowned French Osteopath, Jean-Pierre Barral. He was named one of TIME Magazine's Top Six Innovators for Alternative Medicine in recognition of his pioneering work.
Visceral means pertaining to the internal organs such as the lungs, liver and kidneys. Our internal organs are in perpetual motion. For example, when we take a breath, our kidneys move one inch; and with deep inhalation, they move 4 inches. In a day, they move over 1/2 mile. Which is around 19,000 miles in a lifetime! Even small restrictions can take its toll over time.
The internal organs interact with virtually every other structure of the body through fascia, the thin connective membrane interconnecting just about everything in the body. Releasing these restrictions through gentle compression, mobilization, and elongation allows the body to move more freely. Multiplied over thousands of repeated movements, this added freedom results in increased vitality and higher functioning on many different levels.
Noticeable differences often take several days to manifest, with continued improvement over time. Since we are dealing with restrictions that may have been present for a long time, a minimum of three to four sessions are recommended. However, significant changes can and do occur with only one visit.
Visceral Manipulation can benefit:

Even though the body appears to be a material object, it is really a field of Energy and Intelligence. Of our universe, including our body, only a miniscule percentage is actually physical. The rest of it (99.9999999%) is energy and space. Click here for a more detailed explanation. Physical manifestation comes from the unmanifested potential of empty space through Energy. Energy is the source of the physical, not the other way around.
Currently, modern allopathic medicine focuses on the symptoms, the last stage of disease, not the root cause. Symptom suppression is not the same as a cure. Energy Work operates on the level of the source of symptoms -- the underlying causes. It is like the difference between farming with toxic pesticides versus organic farming. With organic farming the goal is to cultivate robust, healthy crops where pests (symptoms and diseases) can't find a foothold because of the overall strength of the organism and its harmony with its environment. When additional treatment is necessary, only natural remedies are used, which are good for the health of the whole organism.
Energy Work is a vast and diverse field of healing. It can include anything from qi gong and pranic healing, to Healing Touch and Reiki, to light work and quantum healing, to laying on of hands and prayer, to spiritual healing and chakra balancing, to working with the interrelationship between consciousness and physical manifestation.
All of the healing modalities that Mark employs is infused with a Divine Energy that flows through him. He is not the owner or creator of this Energy, just the channel or conduit for it. The unique way that Energy flows through him is a combination of his natural healing gifts that he was born with, as well as the result of spiritual realizations that have opened him up to higher and higher vibrations of Energy-Consciousness.
Energy Work is especially effective for:
Mikao Usui is the founder of Usui Reiki Ryoho, which is the most well-known and practiced form of Reiki. Reiki means Universal Life Force. Ryoho means method of bringing into harmony and wholeness. Reiki was revealed to Usui during a 21 day retreat in a cave on the sacred Mount Kurama involving fasting, meditation and prayer. On the morning of the 21st day of the retreat, Usui experienced a profound spiritual awakening. Usui received the inspiration and empowerment for doing Reiki as part of that spiritual awakening.
After this profound life-changing event, Usui established a clinic for healing and teaching in Kyoto, Japan. Dr. Usui's clinic overflowed with patients wanting treatment and teaching as his fame as a healer spread. He opened another clinic in Tokyo in February 1924. As requests to teach and heal people poured in, Usui traveled all over Japan.
Mikao Usui received the empowerment and inspiration to heal not from another human being, but directly from Source through spiritual awakening. In the same way, even though Mark received the traditional training and initiation through a Reiki Master, his experience with Reiki is more the result of natural gifts and spiritual awakening than anything else. Mark experiences Reiki as a word or label which describes being a pure channel for Divine or Universal Energy and Intelligence.

Clearing the Channels
Clearing the Channels is an integration of Reflexology with Mark Okita's unique version of Energy Work.
A few words on traditional Reflexology (without Mark's energy work):
Reflexology affects the nervous system and meridians through reflex points on the feet. Reflexology also asserts that there are "Zones" which are areas of the feet which correspond to longitudinal areas of the rest of the body. See the following links for more information on Reflexology:
Research on Reflexology
Another study on Reflexology
With Clearing the Channels, Reflexology is infused with Mark's unique way of doing Energy Work. Much less pressure is required than traditional Reflexology due to the use of energy rather than physical force.
One of the major ways that energy moves through the human being is from above (mostly through the crown of the head) flowing through all of the structures of the body, then exiting out of the hands, chakras and feet (but especially the feet). Opening these channels through Energy Work allows deeply held blockages to be released. These channels cannot be mapped as they are unique to each individual and change within the individual over time. Energy is continually flowing and changing, affecting the health and well-being of the person.
Clearing the Channels can clear energy blockages just about anywhere in the body and energy field because the "portals" in the feet are connected with blockages or distortions elsewhere in the body. Working on the feet in this way can clear or positively affect physical structures and energy systems (chakras and meridians) in ways that working directly on them cannot achieve.
Clearing the Channels is good for:
Internal Organ and Chakra Balancing
This is another therapy pioneered by Mark Okita which is an integration of the osteopathic approach of Visceral Manipulation with Chakra Balancing, a form of Energy Work.
As stated in a previous section, Visceral Manipulation refers to the gentle manual therapy of the "viscera," the internal organs of the body such as the lungs, liver, kidneys and intestines. Visceral Manipulation helps the body release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain and dysfunction.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means "wheel." This refers to the vortex of rotating energy that radiates out from the 7 major energy centers of the human body.
Each Chakra is located at a different location along the length of the spine, from the perineum near the base of the spine - the 1st or Root Chakra, to the top of the head - the 7th or Crown Chakra. And there are 5 more Chakras along the spine in ascending order, each vortex of energy radiating towards the front and back of the body.
Each Chakra corresponds to a specific location of the body as well as specific internal organs, nerve plexuses, colors, emotional states and other human attributes. By treating the associated Chakra, healing on many different levels can occur.
See the following links for more information on Chakras:
Clearing the Channels and Internal Organ and Chakra Balancing work synergistically and together they create a very dynamic and comprehensive system of energy work.
Final Notes on The Okita Way
The essence of The Okita Way is opening to an Energy that contains and expresses all of the Love, Power and Intelligence of the Universe. We as human beings do not have to figure everything out before receiving the blessings of Life. The Universe is already doing all of it through its much higher Wisdom and Power.
We are only at the very beginning stages as human beings of tapping into that Infinite Source. These are exciting times -- we get to ride this wave of conscious expansion.
